The village lies 12 kilometers from Casale Monferrato, near the Po River. Its name’s origin is uncertain; it may derive from Pons Sturae or Pons Turritus, likely referencing a bridge over the river. Legend has it that in 218 B.C., Hannibal crossed this bridge with his elephants.

Camino lies northwest of Casale Monferrato, perched at an elevation of over 260 meters above sea level. Its strategic position commands views of the right bank of the Po River, the Vercelli rice fields on the plains, and the rolling hills of Lower Monferrato.
